Getting to know you consultation

As a first step in creating your professional family video, you will speak on the phone directly with our founder and executive producer Susannah Ludwig.

In your first conversation with Susannah, you will discuss the right Portraits that Move video for your family.  Our Signature Portrait is an in-depth 3-5 minute documentary quality film that empowers your children to share their story in their own words celebrating them, and your family, exactly as you are right now.  Other Portraits that Move custom video products include our Baby Video, the perfect complement to infant and baby photos, and a Generations Video that celebrates the generations that make your family what it is today.  We also offer party and destination films and video greeting cards.

Just as important as choosing the right Portraits that Move film for you, the first consultation allows you to ask Susannah any questions that you have about the process, and to get a glimpse at the love and joy that go into creating every unique Portraits that Move film.

I am truly blessed to do this work and I feel called to help parents feel and preserve the joy that their families bring to them. Every time I speak with a parent about Portraits that Move I renew my commitment to do this work with love, respect, and gratitude.

portraits that move film shoot

Our filmmakers come to your home or a location of your choosing to film your family's Portraits that Move video.  Film shoots run between 1.5 hours and 4 hours, depending on the type of film you are purchasing.  Plan for 3 - 4 hours, and a two person team, for a Signature Portrait film shoot.

During this time, we observe your child doing the things they love to do — playing, reading, laughing, and being themselves. We ask them to tell us about themselves, their likes and dislikes, their feelings, their dreams and their family.

Our team of filmmakers is gifted in working with children of all ages, personalities and abilities.  We know how to create a trusting, creative environment in which children feel comfortable being and sharing exactly who they are.  For more about how we work with children, and for tips on starting meaningful conversations with your kids, visit our blog.

Working with the team at Portraits that Move was so easy! They were calm and collected and made everyone present at ease. My children were captured at ages 6 and 3... we cannot wait to look back on this masterpiece when they are older! Highly recommend the whole experience and finished product!

Editing your Portraits that move film

The professional film editors on the Portraits that Move team spend hours editing the footage our filmmakers take during the Portraits that Move film shoot.

Included in the editing process is the selection and purchase of music that is chosen to complement the tone and spirit of your Portraits that Move film perfectly.  The editing process takes about 3 - 4 weeks to complete.  At the end, you have a professionally produced, documentary-quality video to treasure for generations, and to share with your friends and family right now.
